All the leading museums and art galleries in Florence are within easy reach of the Hotel Hermitage, like the acclaimed Piazza della Signoria and Boboli Gardens, a brilliant example of Italian gardens and the city's traditional park.
The main shopping streets - especially Via de` Tornabuoni and Via della Vigna Nuova - with great boutiques and splendid leather goods, are just a 5-minute walk away from the hotel while you can't miss the nearby age-old gold and jewelry stands on Ponte Vecchio. Those traveling to Florence on business will be pleased to know that the Fortezza da Basso and its leading and modern Convention Center are only 2 km from the Hotel Hermitage.
How to reach us
By train / The Central “Santa Maria Novella” train station is a 15-minute walk away from the Hotel Hermitage. After exiting the station, follow the signs for the Ponte Vecchio and Lungarno. The hotel is less than 20 meters away from the bridge. If you're traveling with heavy luggage, we suggest you take a cab which should take you to the hotel in less than 10 minutes (15 €).
By plane / The cab ride from the Florence “Amerigo Vespucci” airport to the Hotel Hermitage should only take about 25 minutes and cost around 25 €. Alternatively, you can take the Volainbus shuttle to the Central “Santa Maria Novella” train station. From here, follow the directions under "By train".
By car / Arriving from Genoa, Lucca (A11) / Bologna (A1) - follow the directions for Rome and exit at Firenze Sud Arriving from Rome A1 or from the Siena Freeway, exit at Firenze Sud.
Go straight along the motorway junction until the end and turn left into Via General Alberto Dalla Chiesa at the traffic lights. Pass the roundabout after two traffic lights and continue straight on Lungarno Aldo Moro and then on Lungarno Cristoforo Colombo. Travel on the left side of the road for approximately 200 meters. At the traffic lights, turn left onto the Giovanni da Verrazano bridge and immediately turn right into Lungarno Ferrucci. Drive straight on for about 400 meters up to Piazza Ferrucci. Turn left before the piazza, slightly moving away from the river Arno, and then immediately to the right. Having passed 2 traffic lights that are close together, continue straight on and you will find the Arno river on your right again. After approximately 400 meters, turn right, cross the "Ponte alle Grazie" bridge and immediately turn left into Lungarno Generale Diaz, in the direction of Ponte Vecchio. Now you will find the Arno on your left and on your right you will see Piazza Mentana, then Piazza dei Giudici with the Galileo museum and then the Uffizi Gallery.
After the Uffizi Gallery, the road slopes slightly, immediately turn right under the arch in Via Dei Georgofili and then immediately turn left under a small arch in Via dei Girolami up to "Piazza del Pesce" and you have arrived right in front of the hotel. We are above the "Caffè delle Carrozze" ice cream shop. You can leave your car in front of the ice cream shop temporarily. The porter will greet you for luggage service.

Florence is a lively city, full of events and shows. Don't miss the shows as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Theater, the summer concerts at the Parco delle Cascine and enjoy the exciting Florence nightlife at its numerous and exciting hot spots - eateries, restaurants, pubs and discos.

Downtown Florence and the winding streets between the Hotel Hermitage and the Duomo offer the best Tuscan pastries and delicious specialties accompanied by superb wines like the Brunello di Montalcino and Chianti, produced in the surrounding Chianti hills famous for their holiday farms and uncontaminated nature.
