FROM "THE EUROPEAN TRAVELLER"

".........The small roof-terrace at the Hermitage is a delightful gathering spot. Its small vine-covered porticos and profusion of geraniums provide the perfect ambiance for the breathtaking views of Florence's most famous monuments. The staff is young, friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to please. The Hermitage is the perfect combination of great location, superb views, and friendly service. Reservations are a must........."

FROM "BRIDE'S MAGAZINE" - a Conde Nast publication

"Go ahead and snicker at all those folks paying lots of lira for so-so views and a famous name. You've got the best seats in Florence, ensconced on the HOTEL HERMITAGE's rooftop terrace with an espresso in hand and the Ponte Vecchio under your nose. Word is getting out about this affordable secret hidden on the top floors of a nondescript building beside the Arno. And for good reason: besides its stupendous location, the Hermitage brims with Italian flavor...........The 29 guest rooms are equally appealing, with pastel-striped wallcoverings, antique armoires, and bright-white tile baths......"

FROM "EASY ESCAPES - SMALL INNS"

"We had read about the Hermitage over and over again in the travel press, with one article more complimentary than the next, and we could not help but wonder whether the place could possibly live up to its press. The answer was resounding YES! In fact, we have no hesitation in saying that the Hermitage is indeed the best place to stay in Florence...."

FROM "PICCOLI ALBERGHI DI CHARME IN ITALIA"

"The Hermitage was born just like something more than a simple pension, one of those that actually are so rare in Florence like flowers in the desert, but in the last years a careful restoration provided it a superior style, and a superlative grade of upkeep. The flowered roof garden terrace provides spectacular views on the red-tiled roofs of the city, until the Duomo, for a perfect breakfast....."

FROM "LE GUIDE DE L'ESPRESSO"

"One of the nicest views of Florence: just under the building you can find Ponte Vecchio attached to the Corridoio Vasariano, so close that it seems you can touch it. At the same moment Palazzo Vecchio stays behind your shoulders. The atmosphere becomes dreaming in the flowered roof-terrace, under the vine-covered porticos on the 6° floor, where you can have breakfast and end the night. Even if the hotel seems a nondescript building, once you are inside, you change your mind seeing the nice lounge with breathtaking windows overlooking the Arno river. As more as you will enjoy one of the rooms, all very quiet, furnished with taste and delightful pastel colours. Hermitage is a little jewel hidden in one of the most pleasant Italian places"

FROM "NEW ORLEANS TIMES"

"After one week driving over the Italian west coast, - without anyone speaking english - it has been a great pleasure to arrive to the Hermitage Hotel in Florence where I left my so bad italian", Mrs. DAWN RUTH writes. "The owner (Mr. Vincenzo Scarcelli) kindly welcame us with an almost perfect english; and then he showed a nice room, full of antiquites with a superb view of the Arno river and of Ponte Vecchio. The location couldn't be better than that! Other facilities include an elegant and comfortable lounge and a roof-terrace with a breathtaking view of the roofs of the town and of the Arno river. Such beautiful view is a good reason to choose Hermitage, but the kindness of the owner and of his staff changes the stay in a crowded city in to a beautiful experience for all the tourists."

FROM "NEW YORK TIMES"

"Many hotels in Florence boast of their proximity to the Ponte Vecchio, the triple-arched bridge that has been lined with picturesque shops since 1200's. But the HOTEL HERMITAGE has no need to stretch the truth, lying as it does a few steps from the Duomo side of the bridge. Walk up half a flight stairs, then take the modern elevator to the reception area on the fifth floor. The 29 rooms are on the floors below............ The members of the staff, many of whom are young women from various European countries and speak several languages were unfailingly cheerful and eager to oblige. They urged visitors to take a stroll up to the sixth-floor terrace, to see where the guests who arrived in the warmer weather enjoyed their breakfasts. Although it is not an elaborate hotel, the HERMITAGE offers some of the best views in the city from the terrace, of the Ponte Vecchio, the Arno, the Duomo and the Palazzo della Signoria.............. Given its location, the efficient. helpful staff and its overall charm, the HOTEL HERMITAGE may be one of the Florence best buys."
